Gymnastics is renowned for being one of the best activities to help young children develop. FDLC's gymnastics programs focus on providing a safe and fun environment for your child to develop coordination, strength, flexibility, balance, speed and discipline.
Five Dock Gymnastics has a number of recreational programs available for boys and girls of all age groups including:
- Play gym (Walking – 2.5 years)
- Mini gym (2.5 - 4 years)
- Junior gym (4-5 years)
- Foundations (5 - 7 years)
- Stages (8 - 13 years)
- Teen tumble (13 - 18 years)
- Adult gymnastics (16 years+)

All enrolled gymnasts must be registered with Gymnastics Australia.
Play Gym is guardian assisted class designed for children from walking to 2.5 years of age. Play Gym is a program designed to develop balance, fine and gross motor skills, which leads to developing confidence and co-ordination in a safe, structured, multi-sensory environment. As a result, social skills and integration with other children and play activities are enhanced. This class is 45 minutes in length and involves free play, music, games and 2 gymnastics circuits.
Mini Gym is a guardian assisted class which is designed for children from 2.5 to 4 years of age. Mini Gym is a program designed to develop children, socially, emotionally, cognitively and physically, in a safe, structured, multi-sensory environment. Mini Gym provides the opportunity for children to experience a wide range of physical activities, which leads to developing confidence and co-ordination. This class is 45 minutes in length and involves free play, music, games and 2 gymnastics circuits.
Junior Gym is a structured class that is a progression from Mini Gym and is suited for children 4 to 5 years of age. With no parent involvement, the class encourages children to discover their own abilities in a gymnastics environment. Using music and gymnastic equipment the children learn to interact socially as well as develop their skills and physical strengths. This class is 45 minutes in length.
Foundations is a program for children of school age and is based on a progression of stages throughout the program. These stages help develop the children physically and mentally as they learn the fundamentals of gymnastics movement, develop co-ordination, strength, balance and gross motor skills. Each stage has set criteria/skills to be obtained before progressing to the next level, which still focuses fun. This class is 60 minutes in length.
Stages is a progression from Foundations and is a program for girls and boys who wish to continue progressing with their gymnastics skills in a friendly, supportive and challenging atmosphere. The focus of the class is on interaction and fun with no competition aspect involved. This class is 1.5 hours in length.
Teen tumble is a program for 13-18 year olds and is open to all ability levels. There is a particular focus on agility and power needed for aerial and strength based skills. Challenge your fitness and develop new skills in an enjoyable environment. This class is 1.5 hours in length.
Adult Gymnastics is open to anyone over 16 years of age (16-17 years must show ID and have parental permission) and is available on Tuesday and Thursday nights for 2 hours. The class is open to all levels of ability, allowing participants to seek tuition in any area they have an interest. Casual classes cost $23.50 per session and run from 7:30pm to 9:30pm (10 and 20 visit passes available at a discounted rate). All Adult gym participants are required to hold a recreational gymnastics registration which is $50.
